About MiKayla
MiKayla Lynn Hatfield, a native of Van Buren, Arkansas, is currently a resident of Winchester, Virginia. Her degrees consist of a Bachelor of Music from Trevecca Nazarene University (Nashville, TN) and a Master of Music Performance from Shenandoah Conservatory (Winchester, VA). Her experience covers Solo Vocal, Choral, Instrumental, and Musical Theatre. Some of Ms. Hatfield’s recent theatrical roles include Eugénie in Germaine Tailleferre's La Pauvre Eugénie, Marie Antoinette in Shenandoah Conservatory's Gothic Opera, Suor Angelica from Suor Angelica, Gertrude McFuzz from Seussical, and Father from Children of Eden. In the summer of 2017, Ms. Hatfield had the opportunity to participate in Boston Conservatory’s Opera Intensive located in Valencia, Spain. In 2018 she toured with the Trevecca Nazarene University Singers, where she was a featured soloist, through the United Kingdom and Ireland. In the summer of 2022 she attended the prestigious American Institute of Musical Studies (AIMS) in Graz, Austria for 6 weeks. In the summer of 2023 Ms. Hatfield was awarded the $20,000 Stephen Feinberg Scholarship with the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation. In the fall of 2023, she accepted a Post-Masters Teaching Assistantship from Shenandoah Conservatory, where she started her Doctorate of Musical Arts in Vocal performance. In November of 2023, Ms. Hatfield placed 1st in the Shenandoah Conservatory Student Soloist Competition, Division II. In April of 2024, she will be playing the role of Lidochka in Moscow, Cheryomushki, by Shostakovich, with the Shenandoah Conservatory Opera.
Ms. Hatfield has had the opportunity of teaching voice lessons with academy’s, as well as having a small studio of herself. She has experience and a passion for teaching students of all ages. “You are never too young or old to learn about the universal language of music. Music can guide you through the most challenging, and the most beautiful times of your life. My goal is to be here and walk alongside you as we develop your craft. In my lessons there is quite a bit of self discovery. In my studio, I ask for my students to have an open mind as well as an open heart. It’s exciting to be open to new musical and vocal discoveries!”
